Our First Birthday!

Hi everyone

I’m delighted to say that we’ll be celebrating our first birthday at our January 10th meeting. What a year it has been!

Come along on Thursday and help us celebrate with a glass of prosseco and birthday cake and listen to a fabulous talk about Newcastle’s very own City Hall – its stars, its history and some of its gossip.

It’ll be a great way to spend an evening and a lovely way to start the beginning of our New Year!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Hi everyone – this is probably my last blog post of 2018 as things will get very hectic from now on. So, let me say that I wish you all Season greetings. I hope you have a happy, healthy, wonderful time celebrating in whichever way you choose 🙂

Also, thank you to everyone that has made our first year of being “Gosforth Central WI” so enjoyable. A special “thank you” to the hard working Committee for happily volunteering your precious time and an even more special “thank you” to our members – we couldn’t do it without you!

Here’s looking forward to a great 2019

Let the parties begin..

If your Christmas celebrations have not yet begun (and, at the time of writing, it is still only November!) then set your clocks for 7.30pm Thursday 13 December 🙂

Our Christmas meeting will be different to the norm. There is no speaker booked – instead the focus is informal –  activities, crafts and, of course, party food and drink. Of course, true to the tradition of the WI, it’s not all about us and we’ll remember the real spirit of Christmas by collecting gifts for the teenage homeless of Newcastle. Please bring along what you can in the way of toiletries, warm clothing and “stocking type” gifts for teenage boys and girls. Thank you!

Hope to see you on the 13th and, as always, friends  / non members are welcome if they want to come along to try us out and see for themselves what a great bunch we are.

Roll on Christmas – I love it!

Liz

Fun, fashion and Christmas frolics

What a great night we had last Thursday 8 November. The Church Hall was full of happy noise and busy “bees”.

A special thanks to Allana for telling her story and demonstrating her wares. What has to date been an on line fashion business “Future Apparel” has now extended to a new shop in Wideopen. These are very exciting times for Allana. There’s no doubt that it’s a lot of hard work (even if ably assisted by proud mum, Debbie)! We all wish Allana the very best of success. Here’s the link to her website if you want another look at what’s on offer or want the shop address .

While some of us were trying on clothes, others got straight into the crafts and made poppies, Christmas boxes and tree decorations. Those who were in shopping mode then sat down to join the “crafty” tables. Organised chaos and much laughter followed. A massive thanks to Janis, not only for the ideas but also for making sure that everyone got a turn to make something. Expect more glitter and glue at the Christmas party…:)

November 8th 2018

Really looking forward to our next meeting this Thursday 8 November at 7.30pm. It’s going to be a busy night!

We are delighted to have Allana Loftus from “Future Apparel” along. Allana will talk to us about the joys and challenges of setting up her own on line fashion business. Come along and be inspired! Also, there will be an opportunity to buy some of the clothes and accessories – or start your Christmas shopping by buying as a gift?

We will continue these Christmas thoughts by turning our hand to some seasonal crafts. Impress your friends with  a new found talent perhaps?

Alongside the usual tea / coffee we’ll be getting into the spirit of things with wine and nibbles. Any excuse 🙂 Bring a friend – all are welcome!
